M: Hey Jade, my friend!
J: Hi Michelle, I miss you so much! 很高兴在广交会又见到你了！
M: Yes, me too! I’ve noticed that though this year’s section will still have three phases, but the operation hours have been changed.
J: Yes, the fair will open at 9:30am., half an hour later than before. And it will close at 7:00pm., that’s one hour later than last session.
M: Ah… 我喜欢！I don’t need to get up so early and hurry up to finish negotiating the price.

J: Michelle, time for us to the Canton Fair.
M: I’m thinking of taking the bus or metro to the Pazhou complex.
J: 我想都差不多吧，Both are good.

J: En? 有什么好玩的吗？
M: It’s about the taxi. You know taking taxi is convenient. But I found the taxis here have different colors. So what do they represent? You know there are yellow, green, blue, red…
J: 嗯，还有金色，the golden.
M: Yes!
J: In fact, the colors just represent different companies they belong to.
M: Oh… So how about the charges? Are they different? 金色，贵一点？
J: 哈，放心吧。The charges are the same, 7 yuan is the starting price, and you should pay one yuan more for the fuel surcharge.

M: Hey Jade! I’ve signed a good deal at the fair today. I’m so happy. I wanna go shopping! Where can you recommend?
J: 呵呵，女人开心和不开心都喜欢血拼。En… Let me see, Guangzhou is the paradise for shopping. There’re several large shopping areas, such as Beijing Lu; China Plaza; Shangxiajiu and Teem Plaza, ect.
M: Wow, so many choices.
J: It’s also convenient to go there. Besides the taxi, you can visit every of the places along the metro line one.
M: Cool. I will visit all of them before I leave Guangzhou!

M: Jade! What is that? The tall tower over there.
J: Oh, that is Guangzhou new TV tower, 广州新的电视塔，one of the tallest towers in the world. And it is also for sightseeing.
M: Oh? But there is very little space for people to be at the top of the building. 上面太尖。Seems dangerous!
J: Haha, there will be an observation wheel at the top.
M: Oh, so when can we go up to the wheel?
J: Next National Holidays, 也就是说，明年你来秋交会就可以上去了。

M: Great! Where are we going to?
J: How about going to the pubs? Drink beer or red wine, and dance if you wish. We can go to Yanjiang Lu, there’re different kinds of bars there. Or we can go to Huanshi DongLu.
M: Sounds nice. But I want to view the night scene of Guangzhou.
J: 哦，你想看夜景啊！That’s easy! I can take you to the boat touring the pearl river.
M: Cool! I can’t wait to go there!

M: Jade, I find the city has put on many posters at the bus stop or in the metro. And I can see the Asian Games advertisement on TV.
J: 嗯，没错，the 2010 Asian Games will held in Guangzhou. 广州是下届亚运的东道主。
M: It’s a grand event. So when will the games open?
J: It will be held on Nov. 12th and last until Nov. 27th, 2010.
M: It must be very exciting to see the games.
J: 嗯，没错，明年秋交会之后，you can stay in Guangzhou, then we can watch the Asian Games together!
M: Great!

M: Jade, I know Guangzhou will have the Asian Games next year.
J: Yeah！Thrilling Games, Harmonious Asia. 广州2010亚运欢迎你。
M: Thank you! Well Jade, I like the mascot of the games. So what about the mascot of your Asian Games?
J: En…They are all inspired from the city’s symbols, the five goats. Very cute! 他们的名字加起来叫做祥和如意乐羊羊。In English, it means good luck and happiness! And the logo of the game looks very special; I think you’ll like it.
M: So cool! I am really looking forward to the games.

M: Jade, the Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou next year. I want to watch the games. But tell me, what can I expect from the games.
J: 先谢谢你的支持。As for the sports, we have 42 categories, with six being new to the games, such as 龙舟the dragon boat competition, 围棋the game of go and 中国象棋Chinese chess.
M: 龙舟? What is that? Tell me more about it.
J: The dragon boat competition is a traditional event in China. The boat is very long and narrow, decorated with Chinese dragon heads and tails. In the competition, a team of people will paddle the boat against other teams.
M: Jade, Please help me with the ticket reservation for the dragon boat competition.
J: No problem!

M: Jade, I want to buy some souvenirs in Guangzhou. What is your suggestion?
J: I think the Guangzhou Asian Games badge is good. They have 2010 designs, representing six themes.
M: What are the themes?
J: The Asian Games logo and flag, torch, history, competition events, important moments and Guangzhou culture. And each of the badges will only have 2010 pieces. 所以，很难收集全一整套的。
M: I want all of them; I think I’ll be one of those collectors.
J: 那你要好好加油了。
